Hello everyone in e-mail land, it's "The Bug Man Preacher" I pray all is well with you today, and that you have the joy of the Lord upon you. May He bless you today with His Word.
Title: "The Alabaster Box"
Scripture: (Matt 26:7) "There came unto Him (Jesus) a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on His head, as He sat at meat.
As Mary was pouring the oil out upon Jesus some of the disciples had indignation, saying what purpose is this waste (verse 8.) She was so grateful to Jesus for forgiving her and saving her soul, that she would now show Him. She would show Him that she was willing to give all of her life unto Him. It is said that the oil was very precious, and worth a years wages: This has two meanings, the first would mean she would give Jesus all of what she had to give, every hour of every day, a year's wages.
That she would do as He ask her to do, a totally surrendered life to Christ, she came out of the adulteress lifestyle of sin, as He had asked her to do in John chapter 8. He said "Go and sin no more" and she heard and Obeyed. But that would not be the end, not only did she leave sin behind, she consecrated herself to Jesus, and by this act would demonstrate that consecration.
Second is the oil, this oil would stand for something very precious indeed, this oil from the Alabaster box would represent the anointing of the Holy Spirit we receive as children of God. She would pour the oil upon Jesus's head, and minister unto Him, this she would do for the gift of life He had given unto to her. You see we take the gift of life from Christ for granted many times. He has given us a very precious gift indeed, HIMSELF: The Holy Spirit is more than what we sometimes believe about Him, He is God, this gift is the most precious gift known in all the universes put together. For He is the Maker of Heaven and Earth, and He would now dwell in our earthen vessels. We have no Idea of how the patriarchs longed to see and have what we now have, we have no Idea of what they would have given to receive what we can now receive freely by faith, the Gift of the Holy Spirit:
We are supposed to anoint Christ with this gift, this means we are to minister unto Him with what He has given us: That is why this was kept as a memorial wherever the Gospel is preached.Mary has shown us by her example of how grateful we should be, and how consecrated we should live unto God. We should live set apart from sin, and the world and it's ways, we should seek to reach the lost for Jesus, for that is our Father's business. We should seek to come together in unity, and fellowship with believers in Love, allowing such gifts of the Spirit access to one another as a body should.
Sadly many reject this act of worship, and chose to worship out their own vain imaginations. This causes the discord and indignation among the Lord's disciples these days, just as it did when Mary consecrated herself back then. Why? Because it brings conviction to the unconsecrated heart of another. They may love Jesus in their own way, but they have not laid self completely down yet to consecrate themselves fully unto Jesus: So rather than deny self and live a consecrated life unto the Lord, they attack, and many times fall away and betray Christ. We see this in Judas Iscariot, right after Jesus told them this act would be told all over the world throughout the ages. Judas in indignation made a choice that would damn his soul to hell for eternity verses 14-16.
He would from that moment on seek to betray, instead of worship Jesus, many are making that choice today. We only have two choices, to completely sell out, deny sin in our lives and consecrate ourselves unto Christ. Or to rise up against Christ and His followers because of our vain imagination of who we would like Christ to be: God is a Holy God, we are to live a Holy and consecrated life, any other Gospel that tells us different is false. We are to make a choice, and allow that precious gift "the Holy Spirit" to flow from our Alabaster Boxes "our clay vessels" to minister unto Jesus, and do His Will in the earth: Which is to seek to save that which is lost!
Are you witnessing to others about the hope you have in Christ? Are you sharing your testimonies of what Jesus has done for you? Are you living a consecrated life? These are things that are very important unto God, we need to ask ourselves, are we Mary, or Judas?
