When I was a child, attending some youth activity...they said, "Ok, everyone who wants to get saved, repeat this prayer". So I joined in. Then when we finished, they said to us that repeated the prayer, "Ok you are saved now. Simple as that." I was thinking even then that something was missing. I thought, nah...there's more to it than that. Actually, I experienced no relationship of any kind. All I did was repeat some words given by another human. I think you Nathan, and I, and probably others here know that there is more to it than that. We are in the meat brother.....some are in the milk and need to start eating some crackers. No, it is not just a magical word formula or simply repeating a sinner's prayer. Rather, it is an ACT that takes place down deep inside of your heart! It is a miracle performed by the Holy Spirit. It is you & Jesus coming together....kinda like a marriage...only much greater than that. I have listened to Paul Washer and I think he explains it rather well.

So if this is what the lady (bishop) means, then she has a good point. It seems many people are swift to criticise, but few pay attention. Her word "individual" is what throws me off. I think what bothers me is when people talk about what is not, rather than what is. Know what I mean?

I might close with a question here which is this.......If someone came to you and asked if you would lead them to Christ, what would you do? I think that is a good question for all of us. And I would hope that we would not pull out a sinner's prayer and say, "repeat after me", but rather get down to our Father's business.

Daniel 12:3 "Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever." NIV
